Scoping reviews – identifies the existing literature on a specific topic, defining areas where evidence is available, and where gaps in knowledge exist.
Rapid reviews – assesses what is known about a topic by using a systematic method to search and appraise research and determine best practices (shorter timelines and less rigorous search than systematic reviews).
Annotated bibliographies – a bibliography on a topic with a short summary of each source included.
Literature Reviews
Provides recommendations or evaluations (including gaps) for adopting a practice or technology based on evidential sources.
POLICY ANALYSES
Horizon scans - summarizes and assesses emerging health care technologies and innovations to prepare for future changes or threats and improve health service delivery.
Environmental scans - provides an overview of how current and/or upcoming health care technologies and innovations are being used and reimbursed to predict associated policy, practice, and research issues.
SCANS
Customized implementation plans developed to support and empower health care decision-makers to maximize research impact.
RESEARCH IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT
Activities and products that enhance the use and usefulness of research. Examples include:
Stakeholder engagement – fostering relationships with project partners and knowledge users (e.g., knowledge exchange, co-creation, capacity building).
Knowledge products - summarizing research and/or stakeholder engagement activities into numerous formats applicable to the purpose and audience (e.g., evidence summaries, webinars, clinician resources, patient resources).
